How We Met
I never thought I would meet my soulmate at such a young age but I am so thankful that I did. I was 14 years old when I met Ryan, and he was 16. We met in the Summer of 2010, I was going into my Freshman year of high school and Ryan was going into his Senior year at the same high school. Ryan had a small gathering at his house, and my friend asked me to go with her (I would never have met Ryan if it wasn’t for you Emily, so although we aren’t as close of friends anymore, thank you for taking me out that night).
I can still picture this night so perfectly. I remember the exact moment when I saw Ryan for the first time and at that moment we both made eye contact that just felt so special. He came over to me, introduced himself and started talking to me. I was so nervous since I was only a Freshman and he was a Senior but our conversation was so easy right from the start. It was like we had known each other forever. When he asked for my number, I remember having 1000 butterflies in my stomach I was so excited. In my heart that night, I knew Ryan was “the one”. When people say you will know if he is “the one”, they are so right. There was just something special between us, and I knew I would marry him someday. After I left that night, he texted me and we made plans to go on our first date together, we have been inseparable since.
I never thought I would meet the love of my life at 14 but I am so lucky I did because growing up with him by my side has been incredible. Ryan is by far the best thing that has ever happened to me. He is more than I could have ever wished for. We have been together for almost nine years now and I still fall more and more in love with him each and every day. My favorite part about meeting the love of my life so young is that we got to grow up together and I know we will definitely grow old together. We are getting married at the Omni Mount Washington Hotel this year & we are so excited!
How They Asked
My favorite place to go on vacation is a small town called Jackson, New Hampshire. It is so peaceful, beautiful, and I just love the small town feel. Everyone is so friendly! The Snowflake Inn is our favorite place to stay in Jackson. It is so homey & cozy, the owners are incredibly sweet and this Inn will always have a special place in our hearts. Since Ryan knew Jackson, New Hampshire is my favorite place to be, he surprised me with a trip to the Snowflake Inn for an entire week! I was beyond excited! We packed our bags and headed up to New Hampshire for a romantic vacation, and I had no idea it was going to end with an engagement!
On the last day of our trip, he said he had another surprise for me… he said we were going on a private sleigh ride (which I have always wanted to do in New Hampshire) so I was so happy! When we arrived at Nestlenook, which is this beautiful place in Jackson, they told us to go wait by the gazebo where they had a fire going. The grounds are stunning there, it looks like a Hallmark movie! Once the sleigh arrived, they gave us a blanket to keep warm and champagne. Then Ryan took my hands and stood up. Ryan told me he had already asked my father, mother & sister for their blessing. He said the sweetest words that my heart will always cherish and at that moment, I just started to cry because I had been waiting for this moment since the day I met Ryan! He got down on one knee, opened the box that was holding my dream engagement ring, and he asked me to marry him! Of course, my answer was YES!!!! He hugged & kissed me, I swear I felt like I was living a dream!
Then we got to enjoy our sleigh ride through the beautiful New Hampshire forest and I had the biggest smile the entire time! I am also so thankful that he had someone capture this moment on video so that we could cherish it forever. It doesn’t end there though, Ryan planned a romantic dinner at my favorite restaurant called The Red Fox which is also in Jackson. He reserved the table right in front of the cozy fireplace and we enjoyed a wonderful dinner together. When we walked into the restaurant, I feel like the entire building knew we had just got engaged because the staff and guests were all congratulating us! They made us feel so special! I can’t thank Ryan enough for planning such an unforgettable proposal! I love this man with all my heart and I truly can’t wait to marry my high school sweetheart!
