How We Met
Anthony and I met in high school when he was 15 and I was 14. It was love at first sight across the football field during marching band practice (try to remain calm at our level of coolness). Over the course of high school Anthony became one of my closest friends. Despite my numerous attempts at asking Anthony to be my boyfriend, he refused to make it official because he didn’t want us to break up and stop being friends. During September of my senior year of high school my dad was diagnosed with Cancer and only 6 short months later he passed away. At the time Anthony was a freshman at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. He immediately got in his car when I told him and made the drive back to Jersey to be there for me. Years later he told me it was the moment he walked out of class and got in his car without thinking that he knew he really loved me. From then on we were inseparable, and we would go on to make it through 6 full years of long distance while we went to separate colleges for undergrad and graduate school. After I finished grad school in May of 2016,I accepted a job in Philly and moved in with Anthony!
how they asked
Flash forward to December 21st 2016- a random Wednesday evening. Jared, one of our closest friends and roommate, had asked me if I would mind taking a ride to Longwood Gardens to see the Christmas light display- a tradition Anthony and I have had every Christmas for the last 5 years. Anthony and I had already gone this year, but Jared had really wanted to go and asked if we would go again. Of course I wanted to go again, as Longwood Christmas is one of my favorite places! When we got to the Succulent Christmas tree (succulents are my absolute favorite plant and basically the theme of our wedding) Anthony asked if I wanted to take a picture. But instead of taking a picture I got the biggest surprise of my life when Anthony got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife! We are thrilled beyond words to be on our path to becoming husband and wife!
