Maya and Jon
How We Met
I remember my friend convinced me last minute to go to the Roxy, a Vancouver nightclub, for Jon’s sister’s birthday. I was always around his family through friends, but I never had met him. I remember he was surrounded by a lot of people. Someone introduced us, and I immediately felt at ease and knew there was a very easy connection. Jon grabbed my hand and announced, “someday this girl will be my wife!” Now it has been confirmed that he is a very smart man!
how they asked
I was in complete shock when that the moment was actually happening. It was so hard to focus on his exact words.
I remember specific parts, specifically when Jon referenced how he knew I was the one when he first met me.
It all happened very fast, but when he got down on one knee I told myself to nod yes so that I didn’t keep him waiting.
After we sat down he had to keep reassuring me that it was real.
The overall set up was Pinterest inspired, just the way I wanted it.
As an avid and obsessive Pinterest user, my pins had come to life.
I guess all the times he was watching football and I was pinning, he actually noticed.
The vignette was everything I could have ever dreamed of! Just like my Pinterest, there was a white sheer arch with hanging orbs and photos as a backdrop.
In front sat a table with clear Louis chairs.
A sparkling sequined runner cascaded off the table, leading to a circle of floating candles.
While Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” played softly in the background. But most importantly, what a keeper I have for wanting to make my experience even more personalized down to the gold cutlery and peonies in the middle of winter!
I burst into tears in disbelief when Jon had asked me to be his wife.
