Matt and Nicole
How They Asked: June 20, 2015 was the best night of my life. The greatest man asked me to be his wife in the most beautiful way possible. Ladies, brace yourselves- my guy will melt your heart by the end of this, but he is completely off limits now. Matt began the engagement festivities with two tickets to the Phantom of the Opera at the Pantages Theater. We enjoyed the musical, then had dinner at a Mexican restaurant called Lotería. It was delicious but we decided that simple Mexican food is just unbeatable for us. After dinner we walked around, people watched, went into cheesy gift shops all along Sunset Blvd. and not once did I think something was up. Matt was lingering, trying to kill time until the big moment and I had no idea. Around sunset we casually made our way to LACMA to “check out the lights”. He set it up in such a nonchalant way, that I genuinely thought he simply wanted to see what the lights were all about. As we get there, and made our way around the lights, we “bumped” into sweet Katelyn. She was “hanging out in LA with her friends photographing all day”. I bought it of course. She then asks if she could snap a few photos of us, and we said sure. All day Matt had been complaining about his shoe. A few times he had “fixed” his shoe and I thought nothing of it. His shoe began to “bug him” again so he knelt down. The next thing I knew, it was a proposal.
Matt’s plan didn’t end once I said “Yes”. My family, his family and my closest friends ran out to celebrate the moment with us. It meant the world to me that my people were there. I am beyond grateful they took the time to be there. I would not have wanted it any other way, and Matt knew that.
I will never forget the moment. I never want to, and these pictures will take me back every single time. My life completely changed, and I am filled with a joy I’ve never experienced before. I never want it to leave. I just want it to evolve as we begin this journey together. Matt, you stole my heart again Saturday night. Never in my life did I think I could love a man like I love you. I am so excited to do life with you. Thank you for choosing me, and thank you for the most unforgettable night. It’s an absolute honor to be your fiancé. Let’s plan a wedding!
