How We Met
Matt and I met at Cal State Long Beach! Little did he know that I always had a crush on him…FROM THE FIRST DAY I MET HIM ;) Matt was the 4 minute mile guy and I was the volleyball girl. We knew each other for 4 years before actually dating. I moved to HAWAII and that was where it all started! It started with facebook messages and text messages. Then led to phone calls and hours of facetiming. I would rush home from class to know that he was just getting home from practice and getting ready to call me! The 3 hour difference was nothing ;)
Playing Volleyball and running professionally made us MASTER the art of long distance relationships ;) Between the two of us, we have lived in Switzerland, Oregon, Mammoth, Hawaii, Modesto, and Huntington Beach. A 9 hour difference for 9 months straight taught us a lot of cool things!! It is what has brought us this far!! It was 3 years of long distance before we actually got to live in the same country!! Then state! Then city!!! OH do we LOVE and APPRECIATE living in the same town now!! LOVE WILL FIND A WAY!!
Matt is the guy of my dreams! I can not wait for the day we say I DO! To all the couples out there….Love is SWEET!! Enjoy the ride and LOVE ALWAYS!!
how they asked
Matt had secretly been planning for the past couple months!! I went away to Rarotonga for volleyball and when I came home…He popped the question!!
He made signs that said, “The first time I saw you”, “Our first date”, “The day I proposed”.
I walked into my backyard to find my entire family and signs everywhere. I was shocked, nervous, happy, excited!! I couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that he was so cute and that he was PROPOSING!! Matt started with, “The first time I saw you was on move in day and all I could notice was how beautiful your smile was”. And then my heart started pounding!!! HARDER! He got on one knee and said, “WILL YOU MARRY ME”.
My dog Broc-LEE brought me the ring in his backpack!! IT WAS AWESOME!! Blow horns, silly string and excitement filled the room!! And before you knew it…WE WERE HAPPILY ENGAGED!
