Mary and Dan
How We Met
We both attended the University of Iowa (Go Hawkeyes!) and we met each other at a party through mutual friends. We talked throughout the entire party but later in the night, we were both pulled away by friends and we never exchanged numbers. Thankfully, two weeks later, we ran into each other on campus and spend the rest of the day together.
We became extremely close friends for next couple years. In our senior year of college, we both went through big life changes and we supported each other through them. We both realized that having each other made life so much better. Our support, love and kindest for each other is extremely strong. We both want to see each other succeed, grow and be happy in our lives. It was this year that we knew we needed to take our relationship to the next level and officially start dating.
how they asked
We scheduled dinner reservations at a popular Chicago restaurant that we were both excited to try. While we were getting ready for the night, Dan suggested to go up to our rooftop for a glass of wine before dinner. When we got up to the rooftop, Dan pulled me aside to check out the city view. He quick got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
was in complete shock! I couldn’t stop smiling from being so happy. Of course I said yes! I was thrilled to be engaged to someone this amazing man.
After he proposed, I wanted to tell everyone in my family as soon as possible. I remembered that my parents were in Ohio visiting family for Easter weekend so I was eager to call and tell them the news. Dan suggested we wait until after dinner to call everyone so we could soak up the happy moment.
After dinner was over, I was about to call my mom to tell her the big news while we were on our way to a champagne bar to celebrate. Before I could get on the phone with her, we walked into the bar and my entire family was there, including my parents. I was so happy that I started crying. I was able to celebrate this amazing moment with my soon-to-be husband that I love and my family that I cherish.
