How We Met
Well, we’ve known each other since we were children and we grew up together but we became best of friends at the beginning of last year. Believe it or not but how we started talking to each other was because we were wingmen for two of our friends who had interests in each other at the time.
So, in the beginning, we were just trying to help our friends out but God had something else planned. God has a creative way of bringing people together, and we love it! So from hangouts with our friends to our church events, we realized that we were falling for each other. And we praise God for all of the sweet memorize he has allowed us to experience so far!
How they asked
Our proposal happened at the beautiful backyard of Misty Westebbe’s home/photography studio called New Day Photography. Misty, Marselis, and Marayet (Marselis’s mother) had planned it all out. So how it happened… I am neighbors with Misty and a while back she told me that she was in a competition with other photographers in TN and she wanted to see if could be her model for the competition. I accepted and the night before the proposal she had me come over to her house to try on a vintage 40’s wedding dress (the one I’m wearing in the photos) for the photo shoot the next day. She told me she got the dress with the intentions of me wearing it which was so incredibly sweet of Misty and her husband Bruce! I tried it on and I was in awe of the dress as I really like vintage things!
Later that night she asked me if I could have Marselis help out as a model last minute to be a groom for the photoshoot. So I called him and he said he could help (which was all a part of their plan). I was completely oblivious to what was going on so I never caught on. Then the next morning came and Marselis and I went over to get ready at her studio. Misty was so sweet as she told me that she would have a hair and makeup crew come over to get me ready which was so sweet! Then we went to the back yard for the photos, which has a beautiful mystic forest. So when the time came Misty asked me to fix something on the back of my dress so I fixed it and when I turned over Marselis was on his knee. He told me how much I meant to him and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me, so he asked me if I would marry him! It was truly such a magical moment! I have to give a HUGE shout out to the amazing Misty Westebbe with New Day Photography for everything she did for having a big hand in making one of the most memorable days for Marselis and me! We can’t thank her enough for going above and beyond in the photos and overall experience!! She is truly the best around!
