Pacific Northwest Marriage Proposal Ideas

From Portland to Seattle, and everywhere in between, the Pacific Northwest is a beautiful place to propose! Known for it’s quirkiness, Portland has endless unique places to propose. Some of our favorites include Multnomah Falls, Washington Park, the Japanese Garden, and McCall Waterfront Park.

A little farther north, Seattle has a its fair share of memorable proposal locales as well. When you think through your Seattle proposal, you can bet that the Space Needle will find its way into the idea. If not at the Needle itself, the Queen Anne Viewpoint at Kerry Park and Alki Beach can provide beautiful views of the Needle, as well as the entire Seattle skyline. Other great places to propose include the top deck of the Bainbridge Ferry, Pier 63, the top of Columbia Center, and Gas Works Park. There are plenty of places outside of the city for your Pacific Northwest proposal as well. Deception Pass State Park, Mt. Rainer, Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helen’s, and the Willamette Valley, are all great if you are looking for a more adventurous or outdoorsy proposal!

Tips for Plannng

  1. Rain, winds, sun, heat, fire, it seems like the weather in the Pacific Northwest can be a little bit of everything. Keep in mind what the weather is typically like during the time of year you are wanting to purpose.
  2. If your proposal will be more on the adventurous side, consider using a go-pro as it may be harder to have someone else there to capture photographs.
  3. Planning a proposal outside of the city or more outdoors? Don't forget to make sure she's wearing the right footwear in addition to the right clothes!
  1. Have a dry run. Make sure the location will look how you want it and your plan will work to avoid any last minute surprises!
  2. A diversion from a normal plan is always a great way to keep the surprise. Say you doing one thing you always do, or say you have to make a quick stop on the way to dinner. That way nothing should seem out of the ordinary.
  3. Plan an engagement party with friends and family directly after the proposal. This is a great way to include others, but still keep the proposal itself personal.
