How We Met
Our story begins in Toronto on Saturday March 10th, 2012. I was living in Hamilton at the time and was going to be making the trip to Toronto for a girls only-no boys night out. Mark was living in Markham at the time and had also made plans to head to, coincidentally the same location I would be showing up at.
The night started out pretty good, good music, good company, drinks and dancing. At some point in the night, I made my way to the dance floor. As I was swaying to the music, a random couple caught my eye as they were dancing and making out, like a bunch of hooligans. I guess Mark happened to see the same couple, as I found myself catching eyes with a tall, dark haired, light eyed boy who was laughing at the same thing I was. Apparently Mark was to chicken to come over to talk to me at that point, so we both went our separate ways.
About ten minutes later, I found myself hanging out with my girlfriends when Mark decided to muster up the guts to come over. He introduced himself, and ask if he could by me a drink. Little did I know, this would be the first drink to the beginning of a lifelong relationship. He ended up swooning me over with his height, and smile and left with my number. Before leaving, Mark thought he would be a smart and send me a text. We both don’t remember what the first text said exactly, but I know when I replied back, the response I got was “that was a fast response, so there definitely will be a first date.” And the rest is history.
how they asked
In June of 2016, we embarked on a two week trip to Europe. I have been dreaming of Paris since forever, and could not wait until we arrived in the City of Lights! After unpacking in the cute little place we would be shacked up in for the next four days, the first item on our agenda was to see the Eiffel Tower! We were told the best route to get there, which would also give us the best view of the tower, and set out to see the famous monument. We got off the subway and made our way up the stairs to come face to face with the most beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower on a perfect, hot June day in Paris. We made the trek down the street, both in awe of our surroundings. As we came up to the Eiffel Tower, Mark made sure to remind me to have our cameras ready to take some stellar shots from underneath the tower. We found ourselves standing directly under the tower in amazement of what was above us. As I was quickly taking as many photos as possible, Mark asked if I could take his cellphone and take some pictures, which I was happy to do. He was crouched down on the ground looking for something in his camera bag, when something told me to turn around. There he was on one knee holding the most beautiful ring in his hand. I was speechless, and so was he, and from what I think I remember, the only words he said was ” Is that a yes?!” Obviously it was! The rest of our trip was a dream, and I am so excited for our wedding and life together.. oh and he also surprised me with engagement pictures in Paris too!!!
