How We Met
April 5, 2013 – Singapore After a long day at work, me and my friend decided to have a dinner first before heading back home. It was a blessing in disguise when one of our friends texted us if we want to eat at Jollibee, which was barely one month opened at that time. Little did I know, my friend together with his two girl friends were queuing for 2 hours plus already (as it was newly opened, the Filipino community in Singapore doesn’t mind to wait just to eat the yummy chicken joy & spaghetti). So, when we reached there, we had our foods in less than 10 minutes. I saw an angel; she was carrying our foods. The next day, I texted her “Goodnight! See you again.” …the rest was history. :) Every GREAT LOVE starts with a great story…
how they asked
My Girlfriend and I have been together for 3 years and last July 30, 2016, I proposed to her.
My fiancee, Marj, is working in Singapore while I am working here in Manila. We only see each other 3-4 times a year. May 24, 2016, after our trip to Vietnam, I went to her parent’s place to give the “pasalubong” she bought for her family. That’s when I asked for her parent’s permission to marry their daughter and they both gave me their blessings. Using my little sister’s FB account, I contacted Marj’s roommate and another friend in SG to help me out in organizing the surprise b’day celebration/engagement party for her. I asked them to contact her closest friends colleagues, former colleagues and housemates to come over as I planned to propose to her a night before her b’day which was last July 31, 2016. I thought that it was the perfect moment since her whole family was there to be with her on her b’day.
Meanwhile in Manila, with the help of my friends and my sister, we created a video of us playing an acoustic version of “Marry Me by Jason Derulo” which ended of us giving our bday wishes since I (not known to her that I’ve already bought my ticket to SG) cannot be with her on her bday. I told her I will be on a hiking / camping trip and I won’t have signal in the mountains. July 29,2016 I flew to SG and I arrived July 30, 2016 midnight. Early that morning, I just finalized everything that’s need to be done. I waited on the other side of Eastcoast Park while my accomplices and her guests were setting the place up near the shore.
Marj and her family came and the guests were all complete. Then her roommate played the video telling her that I have a message for her. She watched the video that we made while I am waiting just behind her back. When the video ended, I showed up and gave her flowers and went down on bended knee. I asked her to marry me and she said YES! :)
