How We Met
We met at Widener University – we both ran for the cross country/track and field teams. Edwin was a year ahead of me and we were friends throughout the years, but we didn’t start dating until the spring semester of my senior year. Edwin had come back to campus for a yearly banquet the men’s coach hosts and me and a couple of girls from the team decided to meet up with the guys at the campus bar afterwards. We started talking here and there after seeing each other that night, but we didn’t start talking consistently until New Year’s Eve. After that we went on a few dates and hung out together as often as we could, and Edwin officially asked me to be his girlfriend on March 25, 2017.
How They Asked
We had originally planned a road trip to Rhode Island for the first weekend in May of 2020; unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and shutdown we had to postpone our plans. We eventually rescheduled our trip for September. We had booked a long weekend trip, staying in Narragansett, RI with plans to explore all the nearby towns and attractions. The first night of our trip Edwin suggested going to see the Point Judith Lighthouse for sunset before our dinner reservation in town that night. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get as close to the lighthouse as we had hoped, but we took some pictures and enjoyed the ocean views. As we were standing there together overlooking the water, Edwin got down on one knee and popped the question! We got engaged on September 25, 2020 – which also happened to be our three-and-a-half-year anniversary. We enjoyed celebrating the rest of the trip newly engaged and cannot wait to go back.
