How We Met
We met at a college party at Central Michigan University at Cody’s apartment. We had mutual friends and we came to obviously party. We immediately hit it off and talked all night, there are even videos of us talking to each other and there’s one of me trying to teach Cody how to say my name. Cody was persistent in trying to be my friend and I eventually gave in. We started hanging out all of the time and eventually made it official on Valentine’s Day in 2017. We haven’t looked back since!
How They Asked
The weekend of our two year anniversary, Cody planned a little trip up to Traverse City for us. We had dinner and stayed the night in town together on Saturday night. Sunday morning we went to the mall and Cylee and Freddie came up to hang out with us. Cody told me that they were coming to take pictures of us (I had been asking for some to get done).
Cody drove us up to Empire to the Sleeping Bear Dunes. I had no clue where we were going. It was a mile hike, all uphill, to the lake shore. I complained the whole way in, Cody kept joking saying, “We can turn around if you want”.
We made it up to the lookout and it was so pretty! I had never seen the Dunes before. We were taking photos and Cylee was taking pictures of us. I was so oblivious. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I was so surprised and I instantly started crying. It was the perfect moment and I’m so glad that he had the idea to take me up there. I couldn’t have imagined a better proposal!
