How We Met
Jeremy and I have been friends since high school and we always were in other relationships so things just never seemed to line up so we remained great friends for about 4 years not even realizing we both had deeper feelings for each other. About 4 years later we both happened to be single however I wasn’t ready to get into a relationship again; that never stopped Jeremy. For a year and a half he was constantly trying to get me to go on dates with him, we would go on “not dates” because to me they weren’t dates but to him he had a whole other plan. After a year and a half of bringing me flowers, wine, my favorite candy when I had a bad day; picking me up for lunch on my breaks at work; and bringing me Gatorade, soup, crackers and flowers when I got sick, I finally agreed to go on a date with him and we have been inseparable since.
how they asked
I planned a surprise trip to San Fransisco for Jeremy as his birthday present since he had never been and we always talked about going. After I booked the hotel as well as the plane tickets then I told him what the surprise was and he was so excited. Jeremy made other plans for this trip. Over the weekend we had specific plans made for each day and he knew what the plans were. On March 5, 2016 (the day of his actually birthday) it was raining all day long. We went to breakfast and Alcatraz and on the way back from Alcatraz the rain let up a little so we headed to Stow Lake. We were walking all around not a care in the world making silly videos and taking pictures until we got to a cobble stone bridge also known as Strawberry hill. I was looking over the side of the bridge at the lake and when I turned back around Jeremy was really close to me grabbed my hands and started telling me how much he loves me and how much of a blessing I have been in his life. I started crying and just kept saying “what are you doing” and he got on one knee and asked “will you spend the rest of your life with me”. OF COURSE I SAID YES! I am spending the rest of my life with my best friend.
Lesson: Guys you can escape the friend zone!
