How We Met
We met through mutual friends out at a bar (cliché, I know.) The moment I saw him I knew there was something special so I turned to my guy friends and told them to leave lol. I then turned back to Kevin and said “guess its just us”. We talked, hung out and then I asked him to buy me a corndog haha. We were basically inseparable ever since that night. We both have demanding jobs and love the life and network of friends we have built in Detroit, MI and because of this we don’t have much time to travel. So Christmas 2016 Kevin surprised me with a trip to Paris, France and San Marino, Italy to see family and to relax. I don’t think I’ve ever cried so much and have been so grateful. This man has showed me so much in the 4 years weve been together; strength, respect, growth, love, determination, support. Words cant describe the person he has helped me become.
how they asked
Fast forward 4 months we take off on our trip overseas. We’ve been dating for 3.5 years so a proposal was imminent however I did not go into the trip expecting this. I wanted to enjoy every moment I was in with him and not be worried about if the BIG question was going to happen. We were supposed to fly to San Marino where my family is from to show Kevin the place I hold dearest in my heart, this was a huge deal for me. Unfortunately a delayed train kept us from our flight that morning and we weren’t able to make our flight. I was devastated and heart broken, Kevin could not have been more sweet. We booked a place asap for the rest of the trip up in Montmartre which is reminiscent of the San Marino mountains. We found a gorgeous rooftop cocktail lounge with a breathtaking view of the city below and as the sunset he got down on one knee and said the most beautiful words any one has ever said to me. The moment the person you love asks you to be their wife and build a life together is something that changes you for the better. We immediately ran home, called family members and then celebrated with some Parisians we met on the street.
