How We Met
We met through mutual friends in high school. The first time we hung out, we went to a wedding dress fashion show (foreshadowing, much?) that his sister and my best friends were in, and we hit it off right away. Six months into dating, one day I became seriously ill. I was bed bound for three months and have been recovering ever since. Once I became sick, Jacob began coming over every day to take care of me without me ever asking him to. I’ve now been ill for a year, and he hasn’t gone a single day without coming over to see me.

He took me on a short trail that led to a bench on a cliffside overlooking the ocean. We sat down, and he handed me a dozen white roses and a large bag. Inside of the bag were three boxes, labeled 1, 2, and 3. Inside the first box was a stuffed animal kitten resembling the kitten I had gotten him for his birthday, in the second was one resembling my childhood cat, and in the third was one that looked like my current cat and was wearing a bandana that said “Meowy me?” Also inside each box was 1/3 of a poem that he had written for me about our relationship. After reading the poem and the bandana on the last cat, he knelt down, told me he loved me, and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes! Four days later we left for a 3 week vacation to Florida to visit his grandparents and celebrate.
