How We Met
We met through the Bumble app. We matched and he asked me to meet for dinner at Lou Lou Food & Drink. He put a lot of thought into making sure it went well. He researched the menu to make sure they had gluten-free entrees and let me know what type of car he drove so I would know when he had arrived. As I walked up, we made eye contact and he smiled a smile I’ll never forget. We talked and laughed until the restaurant closed. It was raining so we couldn’t easily continue the date by taking a walk or something similar, so he invited me back to his house. We hung out in his living room and shared many more laughs. As the night ended, he walked me to the door and gave me a hug. As I closed the door behind me I was already looking forward to hearing from him again.
This is our first Halloween party together (above) – we went as Kanye West and Lil Pump from their I Love It music video.
How They Asked
I asked him if he wanted to have a picnic at Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest, where we had our third date. We packed a lunch and drove out in Nel, his 1993 Ford Mustang. We walked and found a quiet spot near the water and enjoyed our chicken salad sandwiches. As we talked and laughed, I leaned my head on his shoulder and he kissed my forehead. I said, “I love you”. He said “I love you too, but the real question is, will you love me forever?” and reached his arm around my shoulder. I turned and looked and him and he was holding my grandmother’s engagement ring. Of course, I said YES!
