How We Met
My fiance Brian and I met like most millennials in San Francisco do — on the dating app, Tinder. Then, a new transplant from Las Vegas to San Francisco, I had no idea that my future husband was just a right swipe away!
Brian, who had been living in San Francisco for 5 years at that point, introduced me to all the wonderful parts of the Bay Area. We fell in love deeply and swiftly as we ate, hiked and experienced all the incredible things the Golden State has to offer. Soon, we learned we loved being together whether we were out on the town, or binge-watching TV at home with take-out.
After a little over a year of dating, we took our shared love for adventure international. We decided that we’d go to Europe for our first big trip together, and I was thrilled (and only a little bit nervous!) to reach this relationship milestone with Brian.
Before we knew it, we were eating macarons while sailing down the Seine River, touring the Lourve, Palace of Versailles and overindulging in Michelin star meals. And that was just Paris! Later, we floated in the salty Aegean Sea and marveled at the waterfalls of Croatia before our final and most romantic stop: Santorini.
How They Asked
I had a feeling Brian was up to something special for the Greece portion of our getaway. Travel planning is half the fun for the both of us, and this was the only leg of our trip that he said was “already handled” and was tight-lipped about plans once we were there.
This only added to my excitement! In my personal and professional life, I tend to take on leadership roles, so when Brian took the lead on arranging our Santorini escapade, it was a vacation for me on every level, haha!
Once we arrived in Santorini, we were blown away by the kind people and scenery. Brian booked us a stunning villa overlooking the ocean and Santorini’s signature white and blue buildings.
Brian was so amazingly thoughtful and booked me a massage, pedicure and manicure (my nails were camera ready just in case!) at our villa. Relaxed, pampered and in love we went into the village to enjoy a delicious meal and watch the sunset.
We came back to our villa and to my surprise, it was decorated with rose petals, candles with my favorite love song “La Vie En Rose” playing. Brian and I slow danced before he led me down the path of rose petals and out onto our balcony. It was underneath the starry Santorini sky that Brian got down on one knee and proposed. I couldn’t say yes fast enough!
Dreamy. It’s the best word to describe my fiance and how he asked.
