Mandy and Kenny's Proposal in Barcelona

Proposal in Barcelona

How we met: Kenny and I met back when we were kids in elementary school. It was about 4th or 5th grade. He was in the bell ensemble and I was in the school chorus. I had the biggest crush on him for as long as I can remember. We ended up going to different middle schools and high schools but we had a lot of the same childhood friends so our paths would cross every so often. Even as the years passed the crush still seemed to be there but unfortunately timing was never on our side. That all finally changed the summer of his 25th birthday.

how they asked: Kenny and I love to travel. Most of our time is spent talking about new places we want to go to and planning different trips. This year we decided to go to Spain. We had planned the trip about 6-7  months in advance and done a bunch of research ourselves on Barcelona and Madrid. The day we arrived in Barcelona, Kenny was so excited. He kept telling me he had a  surprise planned for me. This wasn’t anything out of the ordinary because Kenny always loved surprising me and he was always so sweet to me I didn’t really think too much into it and I knew he had done a bunch of research on Barcelona and how excited he was for us to be there. After checking into our hostel we decided to go exploring and he led the way. We got off the metro on the side of a mountain and Kenny told me we were going to a park that had an amazing little coffee spot (I don’t drink coffee but he does so again I think nothing of it). As we’re walking up the steps to this park we see the little coffee spot is closed so we continued on through the park. Ken seemed in a bit of a rush while I was trying to take in the amazing scenery. I kept wanting to stop for pictures but he’d just drag me along and say we could take them later. Then much to my excitement I realized this already amazing park had a labyrinth!!! I had always wanted to be inside a real labyrinth. I was so excited trying to take a picture of the front but this one lady tourist wouldn’t get out of my shot. I told Kenny I refused to keep going until she moved and I could take my picture. After I finally got my picture we began our way through the  maze. Kenny was the dragging me along as he sped through it. I was so surprised how good he was it because we only got stuck once.

When we finished the maze and got to the top of the balcony I was looking over the labyrinth and admiring the view while Kenny starts talking to me. He started by talking about the maze and then he starts telling me how much he loves me and next thing I know he’s down on one knee telling me that I’m beautiful inside and out and that I bring out the best in him and how he wants to spend the rest of his life with me as he’s holding the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen. Through the shock and some tears I manage to say YES! I practically jump on him when I go to kiss him. I can’t believe what’s happening in this amazing moment! Then…. I hear the clicking of a camera.

Turns out that tourist that wouldn’t get out of my picture at the entrance of the park was the photographer Kenny hired to take pictures of the proposal!!! They were supposed to meet at the coffee shop but it was closed so apparently they were giving eachother the signal while I was trying to take my picture. Kenny also memorized the entire maze before we had gotten there because he knew we were on a time crunch with the photographer and he wanted everything to be perfect. My Kenny thinks of everything. Our photographers name was Kathy and she was awesome. She led us through the rest of the park and gave us our engagement photo shoot. To say it was an amazing day would be an understatement. I was the happiest girl in the world and I cant wait to spend the rest of my life with my best friend.
