How We Met
My fiance and I met at a friend’s housewarming party in 2016. We started talking because our mutual friend was dressed in head-to-toe laytex! He looked like a dominatrix, and neither of us had seen this side of him before. Not only did our friend have a rubber fetish, but he was turning it into an amazing career. He was crowned Mister Rubber International in 2017 and traveled the world representing this vibrant corner of the LGTBQ+ community. Anyway, Greg and I go off talking out in the rain on the rooftop for the next 4 hours. When I called my uber to go home that night, Greg somehow managed to get placed in the exact same Uber Pool (smooth move)! He’d forgotten to get my number and didn’t want to miss the chance to see me again. We’ve been riding together ever since.
How They Asked
Greg and I planned a romantic getaway to ski in the Catskills over New Years. Little did I know, it was going to be the trip of a lifetime. We stayed in a gorgeous lodge, ski’d during the day and had chocolate covered strawberries delivered to our room each night. On New Years Eve, Greg made reservations for a 3-course dinner at Scribner’s so we could ring in the new decade in my favorite way– good food and homey vibes. Just before the dessert came, Greg got down on one knee and popped the question. The ENTIRE restaurant started whooping and cheering. I couldn’t think of a better way to ring in this new chapter of our lives.
