Mallory and Taylor
How We Met
We met in early 2013 through a young adult ministry and a house church we both attended in our hometown, and quickly became really good friends. He was one of my favorite people right off the bat, and was always so much fun to be around. He was such a good friend that I never really imagined myself dating him, but thiiiings change ;) We started developing feeling for each other in summer 2014, and with some pressure from our friends (you guys know who you are), started dating in September 2014. And almost 3 years later here we are.
how they asked
We had been talking about engagement for a while and been to look at rings, so I knew it was coming, but had no idea when or how. Two of my best friends and I bought tickets to a Chance the Rapper concert in Charlotte, NC and were planning to make a girls trip out of it. We drove up Thursday morning, went to the concert Thursday night, and were planning to spend Friday and Saturday exploring the city. My best friend Megan suggested we go to brunch and some Botanical Garden Friday morning her mom had told her about. We were planning to take lots of pictures, which is how they assured I didn’t dress like a slob (thanks y’all).
We arrived at the gardens and started walking around. Pretty close to the entrance was a greenhouse and Megan suggested we go in there first. As soon as we walked in, I pulled out my phone to start making an instagram story (go figure), and Megan and Madison rounded the corner as I lagged behind. As soon as I rounded the corner to follow behind them, they were hidden and Taylor was standing at the end of the path.
I immediately started screaming because I knew this was it. I’m pretty sure my exact words were “OH MY GOD OH MY GOD WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!” I walked to him, he said the sweetest words to me, and asked if I would marry him. I of course said yes. It was the most magical, whirlwind of a moment.
It honestly felt like a dream. I was so glad some of my closest friends (including our photographer Avery) were there to celebrate with us. They worked so hard to surprise me. I’m quite the planner, a bit of a control freak, and want to know all the details. But I had absolutely no idea. They all got me SO GOOD.
