How We Met: I’ve heard some woman say they feel like they’ve known their fiancé their whole life, well I pretty much have. Alex and I have known each other since we were three. We lived in the same building and our mothers soon became fast friends. Once we moved apart, our mothers’ friendship continued and although not often, we continued to see each other over the years, more seldom though, as we got older and socialized more with our own friends and less with our mothers.
Alex’s 21st birthday bash brought it all to a head and that’s when a long friendship went to the next level and we’ve been together ever since.
how they asked: Saturday April 11th marked one of my best days ever when Alex proposed. Over the last month or so Alex had continually mentioned how he would really like to go to Niagara Falls and try his luck at the casino, so when I “happened” to have this past weekend off (arranged by Alex and Mom with my manager) I didn’t question when Alex suggested we go to Niagara for the day.
On the way to the Falls we stopped at one of my favorite Christmas stores at Niagara on the Lake. We exited the store and standing right in front of us was the most gorgeous horse and buggy (pre-arranged by Alex). We hopped on and began our lovely tour which ended right in front of a gazebo, also arranged by Alex. We stood in the gazebo for a while taking in the sight and then my breath was taken away as Alex dropped to his knee, presented me with with the most beautiful ring and asked me to marry him. With the breathtaking background of the the lake, I looked down through steaming tears and said yes to the man I had met so many years ago.
