How We Met
Steven and I went to high school together. During our senior year of high school, both of us didn’t have prom dates so our friends got together and set us up to go to prom with each other. Of course, this was a week before prom so we were texting back and forth to get all of the details figured out. After prom, we didn’t stop talking and that budded into a 4.5-year relationship that lasted through us going to different colleges and doing long distances, but of course, it was worth it.
How They Asked
I had a feeling a proposal was coming soon, so when Steven told me we were going to get lunch in our favorite little town I had an idea that it was going to happen. On the way, he said they were meeting up with his grandparents. On the way to see his grandparents, he said that his car was overheating so we needed to pull over. We just so happened to park at a lake that was where one of our first dates were at. When we parked the car, he got out and opened the hood, but little did he know that I saw him pull out his phone and text someone instead of actually seeing what was wrong with the car.
He shut the hood of the car and told me to get out which was odd since it was very cold outside. When I got out we started walking towards the lake and we admired it for a while. After we hadn’t spoken for a bit, he turned to me and said “I love you. Like, I really love you.” And I told him that I loved him too. He grabbed my hands, got down on one knee and told me that he loved me and wanted to spend forever with me. He said that I “completed him” which I didn’t catch since I had started crying uncontrollably. He asked me to marry him and I think I said yes a little too excitedly because all he did was smile.
