How We Met
Stephen and I met in 2014 when we were set up for my sorority date party called Crush. I didn’t have a date to Crush and was talking to my sorority sister about her date at an intramural soccer game. I was naming potential guys in her date’s fraternity and another sorority sister overheard us. She knew Stephen from high school and asked if she could set us up.
Soon after, I met Stephen at another intramural soccer game and asked him to be my date to Crush. We ended up going together and immediately hit it off. After Crush, we would literally run into each other everywhere; walking to class, at Jimmy Johns, and basically everywhere else on campus. It definitely felt meant to be! We continued dating all through college and moved to Austin, TX together within 2016.
How They Asked
My cousin Kellie and her husband Jesse had come to visit for the weekend and we had lots of plans to show them around Austin. Kellie and I wanted to take photos at the 360 Scenic Overlook which has a beautiful view of the city and Lake Austin. We were going to go on Friday morning but ended up changing the plan to go in the evening before our dinner reservations. We climbed the rocks to the top of the overlook (in heels I might add) and when we got to the top I saw a little engagement set up on the edge of the overlook. We walked over to it and then I heard our song playing on a speaker. I said to Stephen, “Is this really happening?” and that’s when he popped the question. Of course, I said, “Yes!” He even had a photographer there to capture the moment!
The next day, we went to lunch at one of our favorite restaurants and when we walked in I was shocked to see my whole family! My parents, siblings, grandparents, and even aunt and uncle had flown or driven in to help us celebrate. I couldn’t believe my eyes. We celebrated all weekend with our family and friends, and it truly was the best weekend ever! We are over the moon excited and can’t wait to start the planning!
