How We Met
Elias and I met in 2017. We met on Tinder, the dating app. It wasn’t love at first text, as we talked for about a week until we finally clicked. We met in person on his birthday. Since then, we’ve been inseparable. Often we would talk about getting married and my dream proposal. He knew how important my family was to me, as we both come from big families.
How They Asked
At the end of 2018, a photographer I knew (Kathryn with Kathryn and Travis Photography) reached out to me asking if we could do a photoshoot with her to build her portfolio. I love any excuse to get dolled up, so Elias and I agreed to do it.
I didn’t think too much of it since my family lives four hours from us, so a proposal was far from my mind. On Sunday, December 30th we got all dressed up and ready for the photoshoot. Nothing out of the ordinary. He was calm, Kathryn was calm. We were in this beautiful garden area downtown. We took some pictures and she posed us.
As we were taking pictures, we were standing next to each other when Kathryn asked him to “whisper something in her ear”. He whispered, “Will you marry me?” And dropped to one knee. I was in so much shock that It honestly felt like a blur. I, of course, said yes and hugged him. After my shock subsided, he looks at me and says “it looks like we had an audience”.
My whole family and my best friend came running out from behind some bushes. Everyone got to celebrate with us! It was perfect. They all totally surprised me! It was exactly what I wanted. Eight months later we said I do and now live happily ever after with our three dogs.
