How We Met
Conner and I first met because both of our best friends at the time were interested in each other, so essentially we were both the wing girl and guy. We ended on one too many third and fourth wheel dates, but we quickly realized we were having more fun than our friends! While they ended up deciding not to pursue a relationship, Conner and I’s friendship quickly became a relationship. Still remember sitting in a Starbucks, sitting across from each other both slightly afraid to make the jump to a relationship because deep down we both knew, this would it. After a long talk and two pumpkin spice lattes (yes, he loves them too. It’s the best.), we started the best relationship.
If I had to pick two things I love about us, one is that we both laugh together SO much! To the point where tears are streaming down both our faces. The second would have to be how well we truly understand one another and grow from our differences instead of exploding on each other like almost opposites. We have experienced so much together and I could not be happier our friends dragged us both to the beach that day to be the third wheel because now I have the most incredible fiancé and best friend for life.
How They Asked
Conner coordinated months before the proposal to have me go out to a nice brunch with friends so when he picked me up I wouldn’t have any suspicion he was taking me to our proposal spot. He’s from Northern California so he’s been on this kick of showing me all around (I am from Orange County) so I just thought he was talking me on another adventure to see more of Northern California! He took us to the 17-mile drive at Pebble Beach, and we made a couple of stops but at the last one, we got out to go ‘check out a cove.’ As we made our way down, I saw the top of the arch he had arranged our friends to set up in advance for him; in that same instant, I got a smile on my face that I couldn’t wipe off my face even if I tried. I knew this was the moment.
He took my hand and led me to a blanket with pillows beneath the arch he made with photos from our time dating strung across the top. I couldn’t believe this moment was actually happening, my best friend, the love of my life would soon be my fiancé, and even more, soon would be my husband. We were both so giddy and fidgeting non-stop from all our excitement as he was trying to tell me how much he loved me and his little sweet words before popping the question. Before I knew it, he reached into his jacket, pulled out that little black box, and asked that simple, yet magical question, “will you marry me?”
I said yes and right after he swung me around in his arms, then asked if I wanted to say hi to the photographer. I turned around and it was my childhood best friend who was taking our engagement photos! It was such a sweet surprise and there was no one else I would have wanted to be there for me at that moment (and make sure the right photos were taken, of course, you guys know how it is). On top of that, Conners best friend was there filming the whole thing! He is amazing at videography and this was also when Conner told me he and his friend had been filming a vlog of how he decided to do my proposal, building the arch, picking the spot, all the way up to the actual event. HELLO, that’s my fiancé and I am SO excited to see that sweet video.
Just when I thought the day couldn’t get any better, he took us to the Spanish bay in to get drinks to celebrate our engagement. As we walked out onto the patio overlooking the coast, both our entire families sprung up and cheered for us as we walked down towards them. We ended the most incredible day with champagne toasts around the bonfire with the most important people surrounding us, supporting us in this next chapter of life.
