How We Met
Adam and I actually met in middle school, but our story doesn’t start until the last day of high school. Adam never wanted a girlfriend in high school so he asked me out on the last day of high school during senior sunset. Our first date we went hiking and that’s where it all started. We had the best summer of our lives until I left to go to college (only 2 hours away but it felt like a million). I ended up coming home every weekend just to see him and he ended up transferring to my school the next year. We have had so many adventures together from travelling to Europe multiple times and hiking many mountains. I’m so lucky to call this guy my best friend!
How They Asked
6 and a half years later, Adam was anxious to hike our first winter summit. His plan was to summit a 13er called Cupid Peak right off the parking lot of Loveland Pass. The morning started off like any other hiking morning, waking up before the sun and heading to the trailhead. His sister joined along because she had been wanting to hike with us for a while. The beginning of the home wasn’t too bad, a little bit of wind but manageable. These early morning hikes are absolutely gorgeous because we are able to see the soon start rising as we are hiking up and I couldn’t help myself stopping to take a picture every second because the mountains just looked beautiful with the changing sky. The way this summit works is you summit one mountain and then turn right to go to Cupid Peak. By the time we summited the first mountain, the wind was so rough that I sat down in the bunker (there are usually little bunkers at the top of mountains) and told Adam that I wasn’t going further and I’ll wait for him here if he wants to continue on. Well little did I know, I actually needed to be there for his plan to work. So we just said “let’s just take pictures here and we’ll head back down”. (We always take a summit picture) So I’m sitting there smiling at the camera as his sister was taking pictures and all of a sudden, he gets down on one knee and asks me to marry him! It was absolutely perfect! The sun was just starting to rise and the first 14er we hiked together was in the background. I couldn’t have asked for a better proposal!
