How We Met
Allen and I attended the same college and met through mutual friends. We each had our fair share of heartbreak but continued to trust that God’s plan was bigger and better than anything we could ever plan ourselves! We both stopped “looking” for someone to complete us and started focusing on ourselves. Allen walked into my life at the PERFECT time and was SO WORTH THE WAIT!! He’s everything I could ever dream of and more. God knew exactly what I needed and boy did He provide! He’s my all-time best friend and my favorite adventure partner. There’s something amazing about the bond between two “complete” people when they combine!
How They Asked
Allen moved to Missouri and started working as a physical therapist after he graduated in August. I still had 6 months of college left in Arkansas. So we had 6 months of a “long-distance relationship.” One of my cousins was getting married so we were all meeting at my parents’ house to ride there together. Allen doesn’t get off work until around 6 and it is about a 5-hour drive from where he was to my parents. He texted me throughout the day saying things like “today is dragging,” “only a few more hours,” etc. I had worked night shift the night before at the hospital and had to be at my parents’ to go to Lowe’s Bridal with my mom to get a gift for my cousin’s wedding. When I got home, my dad gave me an envelope addressed to me with Allen’s name and new return address on it.
Our anniversary is November 16, so I thought I was opening it early and almost put it down and waited!! It was a card with a poem that Allen had written for me (*insert all the heart eyes!) and at the end, the last line was “Now I have one simple request; one thing I need you to do. Go to the place you think is the best, a favorite road, and tell me who you run into.” He had a table and decorations all set up waiting for me! He had been there for HOURS and I had no idea! The trip to Lowe’s was also made up because he wanted to make sure I dressed up because I would have most likely worn sweats then been mad at myself later. I was caught completely off-guard. It was by far the best day of my life!
