how we met
Aaron and I met on a blind date in July 2014. I had worked with his cousin years ago and she set us up. It was late July and our plan was to attend the State Fair. As soon as we were both on our way to meet up, it started pouring rain! So we were forced to move our date indoors and ended up having dinner together. That day, we spent 8 hours at the restaurant and bar talking together. On our next date, we relaxed on the beach in Santa Cruz, where we decided to become exclusive.
how they asked
A year later, we were on our way to San Diego from Sacramento to visit family. Aaron suggested we stop for the night in Monterey and have a beach bonfire together. It was the 4th of July and we were waiting for the fireworks to start. As soon as it got dark, Aaron started talking about our first date and told me that he knew that night that he wanted to marry me. He had me stand up and then got down on one knees and asked if I wanted to be with him “forever and ever”. I said yes!
Our proposal was so private and special, but we didn’t have any pictures of it, so we wanted our engagement pictures to be extra special! Our second date was spent at the beach in Santa Cruz, and since we became exclusive that day, the beach has always held a special place in our hearts. Something about the ocean brings us closer together. I think it’s because we feel so small standing next to it and that has a way of reminding us how fortunate we are to have found each other. I’m looking forward to seeing my Aaron waiting for me at the altar. Nothing can ruin that moment for me.
