Cisco had planned the engagement for months and I had absolutely no clue what he was up to! That Sunday on January 15th, my good friend from college had invited me to brunch to catch up on some girl talk- not aware that this was all part of the plan. Cisco had been giving her cues on when we needed to head back home, as he was preparing everything in the back-end. She had dropped me off my apartment and as soon as I walk in, I knew something weird was happening. I couldn’t find Cisco in our living room where I had left him that morning but encountered a vase filled with lilies on our kitchen counter followed by three note cards with clues on what was happening next.
Clue #1 Getting dressed- the theme is Grown and Sexy. Clue #2 A black car will await for you outside at 5:30 PM. Clue #3 Bring that beautiful smile of yours. At this point, my stomach was in butterflies and filled with excitement I couldn’t contain myself! After following the mysterious note cards on our kitchen table, outside my apartment awaited a black sedan to take me to the next destination. On my way to the location, Cisco sent a movie trailer he personally put together of videos and pictures of our relationship over the past 3 years. I started to cry right then and there and knew, this night was going to be one of the best nights of my life.
Upon arriving at the restaurant Palma, I was escorted towards an intimate cottage-like dining area filled with lit candles, flowers, and a guitarist playing our favorite song (“That Girl” by Justin Timberlake). Cisco got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him.
Of course I said “YES!” That evening followed a five course dinner with the guitarist playing love songs all night.
Our family joined us afterward to celebrate our union and toast to future Mr. and Mrs. Torres.
