When it came time for the proposal I didn’t know how I was going to do it, but I knew I had to go above and beyond for her because of how special she was to me…. And the fact that I made her wait 6 1/2 years! We both live hectic busy lives with our work schedule. We both work a lot and don’t really get to spend quality time together until the weekends. So we decided that we needed to get away for a bit and go on vacation. We decided that Hawaii would be the perfect vacation and I immediately thought this would be the perfect time to propose! After booking the vacation, I starting planning the proposal and ring shopping. I decided to make a movie for her that I would show her in Hawaii right before I propose. One thing that I really wanted to focus on in the movie was her friends and family, and how much they love and care for her. She is an amazing woman who is so caring and kind, and I wanted to show her how much she meant to all of her friends and family. So in the video that I made her it started out as a slideshow of pictures that we have taken together throughout our relationship. The song that she wanted as our first dance I put as the background music to the slideshow. After the slide show was over it went into personal videos from everybody in my family and her family talking about her. Every time she watches this part of the video, she absolutely loses it! The final thing that I wanted to do was document the proposal and have a professional photography session afterwards. So I did some research and found Angela from engaged on Maui. She was the added cherry on top of this whole proposal! Since I have never been to Maui before she helped picked the location and do all the recon to make sure everything at the location would be perfect! She had mentioned there was a beach in south Maui called Makena beach. I immediately thought this would be the perfect spot because Mackenzie and I had decided that if we ever had a daughter that her name would be Makena!
So the plan was we would fly into Maui on Monday. Tuesday was going to be the proposal day. I told Mackenzie their was a secret cove that a co worker of mine had told me to visit. We had plans to go hang out at that secret cove watch the sunset then go to dinner. When we got there Angela was a set up and ready to take pictures and document the whole thing. It was one of the best sunsets I have ever seen in my life, and the most beautiful beach I have ever seen.
I told Mackenzie that I had some music I wanted to play and that I wanted to dance with her. So I pulled out my laptop and started the video for her! After the video and many tears I got down on one knee and asked! She said yes!
Immediately after Angela came out from hiding and introduced her self. Mackenzie was even more blown away that I hired a photographer for this whole thing! After we settled down and wiped the tears away, we had our engagement photos taken right there on the beach at sunset. I couldn’t believe how amazing the photos were!
