How We Met
Chris and I met through my twin brother. Chris was working as a mechanic and I was finishing up the last few months of my school when my brother suggested we meet. Chris drove to a parking lot and jumped in the back of the car my brother and I were in. The first thing I said to him was “you have the most gorgeous eyes!”. I went back away to school but we started connecting via Facebook. I eventually moved down to the city Chris lived and he came over every night to “see my brother ” who lived with me at the time. We were friends at first, then went on a few dates and here we are…
how they asked
We went on a 7-day vacation to Iceland in December (brrr!). One of the days, we drove the golden circle but missed one of the waterfalls because it got dark very soon. (there are only 4 hours of light in Iceland in December). Chris suggested we go back to the missed waterfall the next day but I wasn’t feeling it so We stayed in Reykjavik and shopped and had a great time. We even stopped by a local pizza parlor and had Icelandic pizza with apples, cream cheese, and bacon that was to-die-for!
The next day, we had a south shores tour where we visited the black sand beach, along with a waterfall, then stopped at a glacier for a glacier hike. We strapped on our crampons and hard hats and started our hike. It was freezing cold on the outside, but moving so much kept us warm. The sun was “setting” at around 3 or 4 pm so it had this beautiful pink/orange hue that reflected off the glacier. It was unbelievable. We had a really cool guide who would stop every so often and suggest pictures. On the way back down, Chris wanted a picture near the top with the sunset and the glacier.
We took the picture and I started to walk away but noticed he still had my hand. When I turned around, he was on one knee and reached into his pocket. I cannot even remember what he said besides “will you marry me” but I grabbed the box from him and hugged him before he could even put it on! Everyone in our group clapped, we descended down the glacier and had a few more private days as a newly engaged couple before coming back home. It was actually a very cool experience.
