How We Met
Zack and I lived about forty minutes apart growing up and we first met in eighth grade, after that first encounter we didn’t really talk much for the next few years. When we got into high school we became friends on social media and all that fun stuff, during high school we were both in long-term relationships and when senior year rolled around we both had ended our previous relationships and reconnected with one another. We talked non stop those first few weeks of summer after high school and Zack asked me to go on a date with him EVERY SINGLE DAY, and I always said no, I wanted to go into college single and have fun, but he had other plans, and I finally agreed to take him up on that date (only because he was taking me fishing not because I actually wanted to go on the date). But he was right, he knew all along that the rest would be history after one date.
how they asked
Shortly after going to college zack realized college wasn’t for him and he joined the Marines, we have always talked about getting married but now it became more of a reality than a conversation. Forward to the summer before my senior year of college, and zack is stationed at Camp Pendleton for the next few months and I am looking for summer internships in Southern California like crazy. I get an internship, move to California and spend every weekend in the summer with my man. Towards the end of the summer we find out he’s off to Hawaii for the next three years and his grandparents plan a visit to come see him before he heads off to the island life. I picked Zack up from base on Saturday morning just like every weekend and took him back to where we were staying that weekend.
He showered and told me that we were meeting up with our favorite photographer later in the evening at Thousand Steps Beach in Laguna Beach, CA. to get some family pictures for his grandparents because they haven’t gotten pictures together in many years. I thought that was so sweet of him and went along with it, after a gorgeous day in Laguna we headed down towards the beach around sunset, we met up with our photographer friend Ashley and she said she wanted to snap some pics of Zack andmeI alone first before his family members.
She has us stand back to back, close our eyes and take three steps away from one another, she said on the count of three you’re you’re to turn around and run into his arms and that’s exactly what I did expect zack was down on one knee asking me to be his wife and I couldn’t have been more excited!
