How We Met
About four years ago, I was looking for a church to call home & I visited North Central Church in Spring, TX one Sunday morning. As my best friend & I were entering the church service that morning we heard an angelic voice leading a song & she whispered to me, “you’re going to marry him one day!” -Her
We met at church. I remember her walking in & thinking that she was incredibly gorgeous, stunning, and beautiful. We “talked” for a minute but we decided to cultivate a lasting friendship & we did just that. Over the next few years, we shared many laughs, adventures, & late night convos.
However, on Memorial weekend, this time last year, I decided to pursue a romantic relationship with Yesi. We had a huge gathering of friends at Galveston beach & I decided to spend the entire day with Yesi, wading in the water, battling the waves, & walking the beach…even though we had a third wheel with us. On that day I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. -Him
Luke & I had been such great friends for years so when Memorial weekend came around it didn’t seem strange to be hanging out together at the beach. He just seemed to be getting much more intentional with our friendship, which I didn’t mind at all! We became much more intentional with our friendship over the next few months & then on August 23rd, 2019, Luke officially asked me to be his girlfriend. -Her
How They Asked
Luke & I decided when we first started dating we’d take turns planning surprise Satur-dates for each other, every week. May 23rd, our nine-month dating anniversary happened to fall on Luke’s Saturday to plan. Since it was our nine-month, I just decided to get fancy & dressed up! My sisters went all out with my makeup & dolled me up! Luke said he’d pick me up around 6:30 pm so I figured we’d be having some kind of dinner date. Little did I know everyone was in on a surprise I had no idea about.
Luke picked me up from the house and explained we had several stops on our date for the night. For our first stop, we pulled into a gorgeous lake and walked to a kayak that was set up for us.
We hopped in the kayak & rowed on the beautiful lake until we reached the lakefront of a private island where there was a beautiful picnic setup. As Luke helped me out of the kayak, I was in awe of the set up with rose petals, pictures of our past dates, candles; all the romantic feels.
He walked me over to the picnic blanket & talked through the past nine months of our relationship which led to the question, “Yesi, will you marry me?” I said yes to spending the rest of my life with my best friend! Our second stop was an engagement party with close family & friends. Then we ended the night with an Ihop date to celebrate together!
