Lucía and Daniel

Where to Propose in London Eye

How We Met

We met in 2015. I was not looking for anything serious and Daniel was a Spaniard living in Mexico City who was loving the single life. We bumped into each other at a club called Mono, gave each other a glance, but went on to continue the night our separate ways. I thought he was so handsome. The following week, by chance, I went back to the same club and, by chance (again), recognized his face. Less than an hour passed before he had approached me and less than an hour later he stole our first kiss (who am I kidding? I didn’t mind).

The next day he messaged me and asked if I’d like to go visit the Chapultepec castle with him since he had never been. We went (hungover as heck) and that was the beginning of everything. We’ve been unseparable ever since. Ups (amazing ups) and downs (terrible downs, he went through a stage three cancer but he beat it!), he’s my perfect man.

How They Asked

We had a trip to Europe planned to go to a friend’s wedding. Post-wedding, we headed to London. He told me he had a special dinner planned (he likes to give me surprises, especially food ones, often) and asked me if it was okay if we went a little early for the reservation. We got ready and went on the metro and when we “popped” back up to the street level he said he had an “excursion” planned first. He said we’d ride the London Eye!

We got to the line and were sent to a special area and he gave his sheet of paper to the lady and she told us we’d have two people accompanying us on the capsule, a server, and her assistant. We went inside a private capsule (usually you share the capsule with 15+ people) and the server poured us some champagne and chocolate. You need to understand I’m the most gullible person ever and thought nothing of it all.

Once we were right at the top, at sunset, he told me how happy I make him and how he wants to spend his whole life making me happy as well. He kneeled and I was so in shock I started laughing, I couldn’t believe it. And the “assistant” wasn’t an assistant… HE WAS A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER. I can’t believe I fell for it, but I’m SO glad I did. Of course, I said yes and once we got off the London Eye I started crying because it was so overwhelming to feel his love towards me, it’s unmeasurable.

P.S. We did go to the dinner after it all and it was AMAZING! <3
