Liz and Weston
how we met
My twin sister, Megan, has been dating the same guy for 3 years. I adore Witt, and it was always a joke that whoever I dated had to be best friends with him or else it just wouldn’t work.
Weston is Witt’s best friend from childhood – they went to elementary all the way up to high school together. Weston lived in Alabama though (the rest of us are in Nashville!), so I only knew OF him and hadn’t actually met him. Then, when we finally did meet, we happened to be dating other people. This went on for about a year, until we all took a trip to the lake together at a time Weston and I were both single.
After that lake trip, Weston made trips to Nashville to see “Witt” (he says I was a big part of his trips) whenever he could. After realizing we were actually made for each other, we decided to start dating. A week after we started dating, we both started telling all of our friends that we would marry each other. Now, we are doing just that.
how they asked
Back in August, Weston and I decided that we would take a trip together to my favorite city in the world, New York City. We decided to go in December to see all of the holiday decorations around the city.
When we looked out our hotel window that morning of our only full day, it was snowing. The first snowfall of the year in New York City! I remember thinking that this was going to be a day I would never forget – being in my favorite city, with the love of my life, getting to see the snow fall over the busy streets for the first time. I even told Weston that I felt like it was a good omen that we were there to see it. It made me feel like the city, and the Earth, gave us the most special gift we could have ever received. But little did I know, the best was yet to come.
We decided to go to a rooftop bar to watch the sunset. Weston was acting strange and was on his phone A LOT, but I didn’t think anything of it.
We get seated and he before I know it, he asks, “Do you really want to spend forever with me?”
And I reply, “yes of course I do, I really do….”
Then, there in the shadow of the most magical city, he gets down on one knee, and asks, “Will you marry me?” and I say “YES!”
As he’s holding me, I look up to the elevators and the doors open to reveal his whole family, and my twin sister. They had all flown from different places in the country to NYC to surprise us. As the first snow continued to fall around us, so did the first day of the rest of our lives together.
