Liz and Chris
How We Met
Chris and I have known each other since I was 14 and he was 17. He is my best friends brothers best friend. Even though we would occasionally be in each other’s company, We never spoke or even had a friendship! (We were the annoying little “sisters”). Flash forward to about 8 years later. I would see Chris out at certain nightclubs we both attended, and even though I KNEW he knew who I was, I would never get acknowledged! (Hmpff!) well, I decided to take fate into my own hands and get him via social media. MySpace to be exact! I emailed him and basically yelled at him for not saying hello to me when he would see me out.
That all quickly changed as we were chatting on and off for a few weeks, and then after a short while we would have our first date. The night we went out was the night by niece, (now 10) was born. We drove around my neighborhood and laughed and talked for hours. I knew from that night that he was the “one”. Our love story evolved into the most beautiful of stories that I’ve ever known.
We as a couple have faced more trials and tribulations than most, but our good times can’t ever be topped. From almost losing him to a heart defect back in 2008, both my parents having cancer, his father unexpectedly passing away, and Hurricane Sandy turning our lives upside down, we made it. He’s the most loyal, loving, patient and amazing man I’ve ever and will ever know.
how they asked
In May, 2016 after dating for almost 10 years, we went on a Caribbean vacation to Antigua. I selfishly wanted to be engaged for months at this point, but left it up to God for him to pick when the right moment would be. I didn’t want to trouble my brain anymore about it. After a wonderful, tiresome day out in the sun and pool, we finished dinner on our beachfront balcony, and decided to take a walk around our resort. Being the perfectionist that he is, he was trying to find a “beautiful spot” to take some pictures in. Little did I know, he was looking for the perfect spot to propose! Growing tired and irritable, I decided to go back to the room and reached in his shorts pocket for the room key. As I went to reach for it, he grabbed my hand, sat me down behind a cluster of palm trees with the wind gently blowing the cool Caribbean air, and got down on one knee to ask me to spend the rest of my life with him. I was speechless, (for the first time in my life :)) but with a heart full of love, happiness and excitement, I gladly accepted. It was truly the most incredible night of my life and the perfect start to a beautiful vacation! Now in just 186 days, I get to call him my husband.
