How We Met
Austin and I started dating when I was a freshman in high school, and only 14 years old. His mom introduced us after one of his high school baseball games, and after that, we were stuck like glue. We continued to date all throughout high school: we attended all homecomings and proms together, cheered each other on at graduation, and helped figure out what our college plans are. After we both graduated from high school, we continued our education at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida… together. Austin is majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in sociology and entrepreneurship, and I am studying Elementary Education to become an elementary school teacher. We will both graduate in May of 2019 and then will continue writing our story after that. Austin and I have been dating for almost seven years. We met at 14, so we’ve grown up together and grown together in every aspect of our lives. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for both of our lives and our future together.
How They Asked
Park City holds a very special place in our relationship. We’ve been visiting for the past four years, and his parents have just built a house here. We love coming here and experiencing all the things that Utah has to offer. We normally travel here every summer because our school schedule never works out for us to visit in the Winter. So this is the very first time I’ve ever traveled to Utah in the Winter. Our first day in town, we wanted to take it easy and get adjusted to the time change and altitude. We decided to go to dinner at the St. Regis, since Austin’s parents are members there and it’s always a fun and beautiful place for us to visit. The hotel lobby and everything about the hotel were decorated so beautifully with Christmas decorations (this was December 27th), and the snow was amazing. After some twists and turns, Austin told me we needed to take a shortcut to meet up with his parents and head outside. I thought absolutely nothing of it because outside was dreamy and snowy and I loved the opportunity to step outside and take it all in. As we began walking, we headed to a secluded part of the outdoor deck (Astor Terrace) at the St. Regis, where Austin had set up Aspen trees with lanterns and snow. Austin began talking then eventually got down on one knee. Just as I said yes, the snow began to fall. It was snowing and we were engaged, what could be more exciting than that!? Austin pointed out Sarah, who was in a very good hiding spot and was the sweetest and most amazing photographer and we began to snap away to document this special moment and day.
