How We Met
Joshua and I met on December 9th, 2018. We immediately hit and off and had our first date almost a week later on the 15th at Opryland in Nashville during Christmastime – a dream! We were there for over 4 hours just walking around and talking. We can say looking back that we both knew driving home we had just met our future husband/wife.
Our dates to follow were a Nashville Predators game and Tennessee Titans game (he knew the way to my heart). Not even a month later we were in a relationship and developed amazing memories over the 2019 year, including a trip to Charleston, Cincinnati, Asheville, Sandestin, and more. By around March, we had already started planning the rest of our lives.
Fast forward to Feb. 1, 2020, and we were engaged! Even though we only knew each other for just over a year, it felt like we had been waiting for forever to “get on with it,” and now we look forward to our wedding date on October 16, 2020, at White Dove Barn with our friends and family in Beechgrove, TN.
How They Asked
Joshua asked in the most beautiful, special, romantic way possible. I would not have had it any other way. We went to a nice dinner at The Standard in downtown Nashville to “celebrate my first week of sales in my new role in professional sports.” We were both dressed up and ready for a nice dinner followed by Jeni’s ice cream, my favorite! After dinner, he got a call from his sister saying she needed us to pick her up at the Walking Bridge downtown because her car had broken down. She had been there taking photos with her photographer friend, Jordan.
We showed up and didn’t find her in her car. When we called her, she asked us to just come down by the river and wait until she was done. As we began walking down the steps to the riverfront, I saw the roses, guiding us to the most beautiful set up I could ever imagine in front of the river and beautiful night Nashville skyline (my hometown and my heart!). White fuzzy rugs with rose petals in the shape of a heart, candles, photos of us, flowers everywhere. I will never forget it!
As we approached the set-up, both in tears at this point, he pulled out a front and back letter he wrote and read it out loud, leading up to the proposal. He finished with Eminem’s line from his song Lose Yourself, “If you had one shot, one opportunity, to seize everything you ever wanted, in one moment, would you capture it, or just let it slip?” And then, he dropped to a knee! As soon as I said YES, our families and my best friend cheered from up on the Walking Bridge and shot off confetti. It was small, intimate, and the most memorable night I will never forget!
