How We Met
Derek and I went to the same high school but we never talked. One night, mutual friends from high school invited us out bowling. It was a strike! We were kindergarten flirting all night non-stop. He was so cute, sweet, and charming and apparently he thought I was too. My favorite part was when my team beat his. He couldn’t help but fall in love with the girl that beat him at bowling.
how they asked
At the end of my college career, Derek and I had no choice but to do the long-distance relationship thing and it was the absolute worst. After what seemed like the longest year of my life, we decided to drive home through some of the places we always wanted to see. On the road trip back home from Seattle to Denver, we stopped at the Arches National Park. After a 5 mile hike there was this beautiful arch. Derek dropped to one knee and said “Letting you go was one of the hardest things I’ve done, I never want to let you again. Will you marry me?” I started sobbing. Derek and I had been together for 5 years and I had known for a while that he had my heart. During this surreal moment I said “of course!” Derek is the sweetest, most thoughtful man I know. I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with him.
