How We Met
True love seems to sneak up on you when you least expect it, am I right? Well, in our case this could not have been truer. As a gal who was focusing on graduate school and had no intentions of falling in love, things sure did take a turn after downloading the newly popular dating app “Bumble”. This app served its purpose of procrastinating school work and getting kicks at how many guys tried to make themselves marketable by having a photo with an adorable puppy.
One night I saw a very attractive guy appear and of course, I swiped right, but with no intentions of ever talking to him. I had the mindset of, “people don’t meet the man of their dreams on an app”. But there was something about him, so I sent a hello. We started chatting and a few weeks later decided to meet in person. Little did I know, this would be the man I call my best friend and soul mate.

A few weeks into dating we adventured to a beach in Holland that had the most beautiful views of Lake Michigan, which instantly became “our spot”. We routinely went there for picnics, long beach walks, sunset views and bonus workouts after we climbed millions of steps to get to the top of the dune. One Saturday we spend a few hours in Saugatuck shopping and Ryan asked if I wanted to stop by the beach on our way home.
Of course, I did! When we arrived I prepped myself for the long hike up the never-ending stairs, but to my surprise, we took a different path. I saw a trail of red rose petals leading to the top of another dune, where a heart of petals awaited us. The tears immediately started rolling as he knelt on one knee. I still can’t believe how I got so lucky to call this sweet, humble and kind man mine forever. All because of God’s love (and the connection from Bumble) we get to spend the rest of our lives together!
