How We Met

It was truly love at first sight when I met Mark. Mark’s best friend, Scott, and I were mutual friends and would often be at the same hangouts on the weekends. My roommate was throwing me a 21st birthday party at our house and Scott decided to bring a friend along. When they walked in the house, it was instant. There was no one else in the room, but Mark and me. Scott introduced me to Mark and he took my hand, kissed it, and said nice to meet you beautiful. *SWOON* I was so love struck that to this day, I have no idea what I said. .

how they asked

For the next four weeks, Mark and I went out on dates–to dinner, on hikes, to local parks–and I was dying for him to ask me to be his girlfriend. One day, I was giving Mark the silent treatment because he had done something to make me mad. After an hour, he came into the room and took my hand, the same way he did when we first met, and asked me to be his girlfriend. Of course, I ended the silent treatment and said yes! Later that day, we celebrated by going to what would become a very special place for us, Coopers Rock. Coopers Rock is a state park in WV close to where we live. This park is so beautiful. It is filled with scenery of rolling hills, platforms of rocks to hike on, and in the fall the foliage is breathtaking. Mark and I decided that on our anniversary, every year, we would go to Coopers Rock and do the same things we did that day. Three years later, we took our annual anniversary trip to Coopers Rock, adorned in the same outfits we wore three years ago, enjoyed the same meal we had for the past three years, and took the same hike to our special spot as we did previous years. As we were sitting at our special place, Mark was getting nervous and touching my face and I couldn’t figure out why he was acting so weird until, boom!, down on one knee he went and out came this beautiful gold box with the prettiest ring I have ever seen! He said a bunch of sweet things that I don’t even remember and I could get my act together to do was say ‘YES!’ The tears were flowing, big bear hugs were given, and smiles were a mile wide. Two years later, and we are happily married newlyweds! Mark and I wed at our very own winter wonderland on December 19, 2015 and it truly was a magical affair.
