How We Met
Steve and I met The summer of 2014 on Memorial Day weekend, only the busiest weekend at the Jersey Shore. We (my girlfriends and I) were waiting in line at a popular bar and club for about two hours before we got in. My best friend was complaining that this place wasn’t her scene and she wanted to go somewhere else instead of waiting on the long line. I convinced her to stay and told her how much fun we would have once we got in. Upon entering, my friends and I headed straight to one of the stages that only girls were allowed to be on. This is a place, we thought, you go to have fun and dance with your girls. It certainly wasn’t the place I thought I’d meet my future husband. While dancing on the stage with my girlfriends, my future husband reached up and put his hat on my head. I got down from the stage and danced with Steve for about twenty minutes until my friends wanted to head to the next spot. Steve asked for my number before we left and there wasn’t a weekend that summer we didn’t spend without one another. Good things truly are worth the wait.
how they asked
If you know me, you know I start listening to Christmas music once September 1st hits and The Grinch is my favorite movie of all time. It’s safe to say I absolutely love Christmas time. Steve and I were planning on going to the Christmas tree farm the day after Thanksgiving to get our tree. We told my parents to come with us so we could take our Christmas pictures there. I had never been to a Christmas tree farm before or picked a real tree, so this was all very new and exciting for me. We walked around for a few minutes, taking in the beauty of all the trees surrounding us. We came to a tree, and Steve said, “This is it, this is the one.” Confused, I replied something like, “But how do you know?! There are so many trees here! How do you know this is the one?!” While getting down on one knee, Steve replied, “I just know.” I thought I was dreaming and remember nothing else he said while he was down on one knee except the words: Leigh Taylor Steinberg, will you marry me? I jumped into his arms and couldn’t believe I was in the arms of my future husband. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year.
