How We Met
Adam and I met in 2010 during our freshman year at North Carolina State University. We lived in the same dorm, University Towers, and would occasionally eat together at the dining hall. One day we were talking and realized that both of our families had beach houses less than a half mile from each other in a small North Carolina beach town. During our freshman year and the summers following, we spent several weekends at the beach with our friends. Adam was going to college to become an engineer and I was going to college to become a teacher, so naturally he spent more time at the library than I did. During his senior year, he finally took time away from the library and decided that he might actually like me as more than a friend. The first time that I visited his hometown, I met his family and his dog, Streak, and instantly knew that I was going to keep him forever. After we graduated college, Adam, Streak and I moved to the beach and grew closer together while adopting two more pups, Shoal & Oki.
how they asked
We both LOVE living at the beach and are always trying to find new sandbars and islands to hang out on. Over the past couple years, Adam and I have always loved climbing to the top of Sheep Island near Lockwood Folly Inlet to watch the sunset. This summer, Adam and I have created a tradition where we take our pups with us to dinner at Provision Company by boat. After a day full on clamming with friends, Adam asked if I wanted to go take a selfie with the pups on the top of Sheep Island on the way to dinner. I am always telling Adam that we need to take more pictures because I like to get canvas’ made of our pictures. When we climbed to the top of Sheep Island, we were standing there by the cross and Adam looked at me and said “we aren’t here to take a selfie, will you marry me?”. I was completely surprised and of course, I said YES! He had a professional photographer on the top of the island taking photos of us and our pups throughout the entire process. I am so thankful that we have beautiful photos of our engagement since memories are so important to me
