Leanne and John
How We Met
John and I met online, he actually messaged me 3 months before I answered! I deactivated my account right after he messaged me, and when I logged back on his was the first message in my inbox. His “Hey, How’s your Monday?” turned into “My Wednesday 3 months later is going great!” I honestly didn’t think he was going to answer, but sure enough he did! Of course I didn’t think it was going to amount to anything since it was an online conversation and I was living in New York, him in New Jersey, but as soon as we spoke on the phone, I knew I couldn’t be without him. We spent 11 hours on the phone that day, and every day after that until we met in person. He drove 3 hours to my house to meet me and my mom the day we met. That day was so awkward! Neither of us knew what to do with ourselves, we already felt like best friends, and have already known so much about each other but it was our first time seeing each other. As soon as we kissed, I knew I would only be kissing him for the rest of my life, everything just felt right. For the 3 weeks we dated until he proposed, we spent as much time together as we could, he would drive the 3 hours to see me even if it was just to spend a few hours with me. I have met the love of my life and from the very beginning, we just knew.
how they asked
When John and I talked about getting engaged, I had a few rules, make sure my hair, makeup and nails are done and there is a photographer there. Our proposal was nothing like that. We were sitting in my apartment, eating pizza and drinking wine in our pajamas, naturally I had no makeup on. We were talking about our futures together and about how happy we were to have found each other when John began to get up from his chair and go down on one knee. He started by saying, “I know this is not how either of us pictured it but I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Leanne will you marry me?” Needless to say, I was in complete shock, our usual pizza and wine night turned into our engagement night! Of course I said yes! It was the perfect proposal because it was completely us! I will forever be eating pizza and drinking wine with my best friend!
