How We Met
My freshman year of college, I joined a sorority. Each year, my sorority participates in a big dance competition that benefits another sorority’s philanthropy. Being the excited new member I was, I wanted to do the dance competition! Each sorority gets paired with a fraternity on campus. These groups practice together for weeks, working on couple dances, group dances, etc. All of these practices were held on top of a parking structure on campus, making that the first place we met. At the very first dance practice we had, the girls and guys got partnered up. I got partnered with a cute boy with a large personality. He was funny, charming, and a senior. As we continued to be dance partners, our friendship quickly grew. The rest is, obviously, history.
how they asked
On this particular week in October, Brandon and I were both going to be extremely busy and unable to see each other a lot. He decided to write me a letter I could open each day of the week, just to let me know he loves me and is thinking about me. The very first letter said that one stipulation of opening these letters is that we wouldn’t be able to talk, communicate, or see each other AT ALL throughout the week. I’m thinking, “Goodness, that’ll be hard!” but I agree. At the bottom of each letter, he had random words with numbers under them. For the final letter, he had blanks with numbers under them so that I could plug in the right word and make a final letter. This letter told me that two of his friends would pick me up Saturday morning at 7:30 am. Saturday morning rolls around, and sure enough, his friends come pick me up. They drove me to the top of the parking structure where we first met. I got out of the car and hear “Firework” by Katy Perry playing, which is the first song we danced to when we got paired as partners. He was standing in the middle of the structure waiting for me. I walked over there, and he popped the question. Of course I said yes!!
