How We Met: Jon and I went to high school together, but were never more than acquaintances.
After high school, we both went off to college to enjoy separate adventures – Jon at Tulane University in New Orleans and me at Wagner College in New York City.
It wasn’t until 3 years after graduating college that the two of us ended up at the same birthday party of a mutual friend in Manhattan. When I saw Jon walk into the party, my heart started pounding and I felt nervous to be around him. I couldn’t understand why! I didn’t know then that I was in the same room as the man I would someday call my husband.
Jon asked me to dinner the next Saturday night, and that marked the beginning of a very special relationship full of love.
how they asked: Jon and I began planning a big trip to Italy early in 2015. We planned on visiting Rome and touring the stunning Amalfi Coast. Jon kept calling it, “the trip of a lifetime” and now I understand why … On our first night in Rome, Jon took me on a beautiful stroll at dusk from Piazza Barberini to Pincio Gardens above the Spanish Steps.
At the top of the hill in the garden, we took-in the most perfect panoramic view of the entire city of Rome. I turned to Jon and noticed he was fiddling with his suit jacket pocket.
At that point, I knew what must be coming and I started to cry! Jon got down on one knee and reminded me of some of the greatest moments that took place throughout our 3-year relationship and asked me if I would accompany him through all of life’s future experiences. Of course, I said “yes” because Jon is the best man I have ever known.
A Roman photographer who Jon had been planning with months before the proposal had captured our special moment, and then spent more time with us walking throughout Rome and taking more beautiful photographs for us to cherish forever.
The night was spectacular and the happiest of my life. We spent the rest of our trip celebrating our engagement and dreaming of our future together. Jon and I are a special couple because along with love, friendship and passion, we respect each other and are selfless in our pursuit of making one another happy. I feel lucky to know that I will share all of life’s blessings with such a wonderful man. My wish for us is that we are blessed with a happy marriage and a long, healthy life together.
