how we met
We were both living in Boston at the time (John was born and raised and Lauren was living there for work for 5 years). Lauren had quit her job to do a whirlwind travel experience and move home to NYC and her coworkers threw her a going away party. One of her former bosses, a peer of Johns, invited John to come along to the party. The rest was history – they went on their first date the next day and maintained long distance while Lauren traveled, moved home to NYC and started working. John moved to NYC after a year of long distance and they’ve lived there together for the last 2.5 years.
how they asked
Lauren and John were both in her brothers wedding in Texas in early November and because of the wedding, the family was doing a low key Thanksgiving. On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, John asked Lauren to meet him at the dog park in their neighborhood, on the way home from work. As Lauren and Lucy were walking up to greet John, a “tourist” asked Lauren if she could take a picture of her adorable puppy. As Lauren was getting Lucy to pose, John dropped to his knee. And that “tourist” ended up being a hired photographer husband and wife team and they were able to capture the whole thing. Megan and Kenneth of Brooklyn Wedding Photographers were amazing – they were so easy to work with and really capture the intimate moments and Johns adorable tears.
