How We Met
James and I met in high school. He was a senior and I was a junior. I can honestly say I was attracted to him almost instantly; he has the most incredible, genuine smile and beautiful grey green eyes. He says he was first attracted to my smile and long brown hair. I on the other hand think he’s just trying to be cute because I think it was seeing me in my volleyball uniform that really grabbed his attention ;) James asked me to prom in March of his senior year and a couple weeks later on April 5th, 2007 we officially started dating.
A few minutes, days, weeks or maybe months later we fell crazy in LOVE & have continued to fall in love ever since! I truly feel as though James and I were meant to find each other. He’s the yin to my yang, my best friend, the love of my life, my person. We just celebrated our 10 year anniversary as a couple on April 5th, 2017 and over the last 10 years we’ve shared the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Through it all we’ve remained a team and our love for one another only continues to grow as time marches on. I am so thankful to have found my partner in life, he is everything I could have asked for and more!
how they asked
June 10th, 2016: The Proposal We hadn’t seen each other for a week, because James had been away on a business trip, and I was so excited to get to the house after work to be with him! Little did I know that when I walked through the door the next chapter of our story was about to begin… As I walked through the door I was greeted by the most amazing sight I have ever seen.
There were candles lit all around the living room, rose petals were all over the floor, our song “I’m Lost Without You” by Blink 182 was playing on the stereo, and a pathway of candles lead to a sign that read “You make my heart smile”. My heart was beating a mile a minute and tears began to well up in my eyes. Just as the shock and surprise were beginning to sink in the love of my life came around the corner, and with his amazing smile and the most beautiful words, James got down on one knee and said, “Lauren Grace Brown, will you marry me?”
And you better believe I said “YES!!!!”
