Lauren and Franklin
How We Met
Franklin and I first met in Air Force ROTC at KU. I was a freshman and he was a junior, and I was instantly smitten with him. I had never seen someone so handsome in my life and he was an amazing cadet. He was such a natural leader and very passionate about serving his country and becoming a pilot in the Air Force.
Our first date was actually a few years later!!! I pined for him for a long time. But he planned out a big night in Lawrence with dinner at Free State Brewery and beer tasting (one of our favorite past times now) at Ted’s TapHouse. It was perfect. We spent the whole night getting to know each other and enjoying Lawrence.
how they asked
Franklin proposed on January 14th, 2016 at the Liberty Memorial after dinner at Hotel Sorella. It was a complete surprise and after he proposed all of our friends were waiting to celebrate with us at the Westport Ale House. Our relationship has definitely flourished here in KC and even though we both graduated from KU as Lieutenants and are stationed away (Franklin is in Texas and I am in New Jersey), we proudly claim Kansas as our home.
