How We Met
Dylan and I met at a New Years Eve Party in 2012. He was five years older than me and never in a million years would I have thought that I would have a chance with him. Weeks later he messaged me on Twitter with a cheesy excuse to get my number. It wasn’t long until we developed an amazing friendship.
We would talk almost daily and found out that we had so much in common, but I still had no expectations of it ever turning into anything real. Months later and a lot of excuses to try and get to see each other we finally realized that what we had was something special and began dating in September that same year.
How They Asked
Fast forward almost seven years… Dylan and I planned a trip to Yosemite National Park for our birthdays since they’re only one week apart. We both love to travel and hike so this was nothing out of the ordinary for us.
Dylan had been telling me we were going to go watch the sunrise at Glacier Point, a beautiful spot overlooking the iconic Half Dome, for a couple of weeks before our trip. He told me he was going to practice taking pictures with his new camera so I needed to wear something nice (I wanted to wear a pullover and puffy jacket so I’m glad he talked me out of that.) We woke up at 4 am, got ready in the back of our dark van, and headed to Glacier Point.
We sat for about 15 minutes watching the most beautiful sunrise I’ve ever seen and as soon as the sun made its way over Half Dome, Dylan got down on one knee, popped the question and I immediately burst into tears. In the midst of all of this, I hear a camera shutter going off behind us and turn around to see a photographer snapping pictures of us.
Dylan hired a secret photographer to capture the moment with the most beautiful pictures I’ve ever seen. For the next two days, we adventured around Yosemite and had three more sessions of engagement pictures. My best friend even secretly packed a beautiful dress so I would have something (other than hiking clothes) to wear for all of our pictures.
Dylan took his time… but I’m oh so glad he did. He planned the most perfect proposal and now almost seven years later, I can finally say I get to marry the man of my dreams!!!
